July is a month dedicated to BBQs, camping, and fireworks. We live in such a beautiful state, Colorado. Our family loves taking advantage of the summer months to spend time outdoors hiking and exploring our Sunshine State. Unfortunately, the risk for fire and injuries increase due to outdoor grilling. Here are some reminders to keep your next family BBQ safe and accident free.
- Know where the closest fire extinguisher is located.
 - Before using a grill, check the connection between the propane tank and the fuel line. Make sure the venture tubes – where the air and gas mix – are not blocked.
 - Do not overfill the propane tank.
 - While cooking at a barbecue, do not wear loose clothing.
 - Be careful when using lighter fluid. Do not add fluid to an already lit fire. The flame can flashback up into the container and explode.
 - Dispose of hot coals properly by dousing them with water and stirring to ensure fire is out. Never place coals in plastic, paper or wooden containers.
 - Never grill/barbecue in enclosed areas – carbon monoxide could be produced.

Stay fire safe this summer!

July is one of my favorite months because it is dedicated to honoring our military. It is because of these heroes that we have the opportunity to enjoy time with family in our wonderful, free country. Our office is proud to serve many clients who are active duty and retired military. In gratitude and appreciation for their service, Olsen Insurance offers military discounts. We want to say “Thank you”. We are truly grateful for your sacrifice and are honored to serve you in your insurance needs.
God Bless America!
